We all have power, but sometimes you need help stepping into it.
That’s the premise behind SPACEs In Action (SIA), the sister organization of SPACEs (Safe Places for the Advancement of Community and Equity).
Today, too many individuals and families from underserved Black and Brown communities still don’t have access to resources that can help them be their own best advocates.
Improving access to quality early childhood education, leveling the playing field in health equity and the fight for economic justice remain critical measures of success.
In 2011, the SPACEs community set out to discover how to bring people together across lines of difference who don’t think, look or act alike; to get them to see bits and pieces of themselves in those who they perceive to be the other.
But SPACEs founder Dushaw Hockett soon realized that to truly build communities of HOPE (healing opportunities and possibility for everyone) the community had to drill down deeper into the human transformation.
Form there, SIA was born: a way to bring people together across lines of difference through community organizing to change laws and policies.
Founder of SPACEs in Action, LaDon Love grabbed the reins and began to build an organizing group. Today, SIA lifts the value in understanding and appreciating the gifts that everyone has within them, and working to cultivate amazing leaders who do amazing things.
There’s so much work to be done, and we need your voice.
